Yes, like Vampires, Fleas also hate Garlic!

Years ago, the church was very worried about the Flea situation in London and thought that with the fear of Vampires at the time, if we told the general public that Vampires don’t like garlic, they would eat it and in so doing, be repellent themselves to the fleas, that the clergy felt was the bigger problem!.

I say the clergy, I mean the clergy knew what was going to happen but I, Queen Victoria, spread that rumour, so the clergy were not exactly the propagators. However, Vampires, like rats were considered vermin and the rumor wouldn’t have lasted if someone hadn’t have tried it on whomever they thought was a Vampire, so maybe there’s a truth in it.

Perhaps Count Dracula was real and he really hated Garlic?

Vampires were famous with the rumours but more famous with the new book then, Mary Shelley’s Dracula or as some say Bram Stokers Dracula, whichever, possibly, both?. Everyone was eating garlic soon enough and although it wasn’t quite enough for the church, it definitely helped.

I myself, am eating more Garlic, my Doctor, years ago informed me that all I have to do is eat Garlic and the fleas will die of hunger. Obviously, I made sure that the house is flea sprayed and the cats have had tablets and spot on. But as an extra, the old-fashioned sure-fire cure is still VERY VERY RELEVANT TODAY, to me and I am sure many, many other people who are scared of fleas …or vampires!.
